Let me entertain you

Today has been a very special day. We visited The Baale Mane Gopatapura. As they describe in their website: “A loving home near Bangalore enabling girls in need to survive and thrive”. Judging for what I’ve seen I can confirm it is true.

During the week, we prepared some games for the girls. If I am honest, the ideas were mainly by Frauke Von Grebe and Jody LeBlanc. We wanted them to enjoy the diversity of our group so they can have a tour around the world in one afternoon. Each of us selected four typical images of our country. I went to the most obvious stereotypes for Spain: mainly flamenco. I refused to use toreros or bullfight for moral reasons.

Before going there, I had doubts about my capabilities to entertain them with or games. To my surprise, they wanted to entertain us. We enjoyed the afternoon seeing them singing, dancing, playing physical theatre and making many jokes. Their happiness was extremely infectious and we were laughing from the very beginning when we were received with the same enthusiasm as if we were family visiting. Among other things, I learnt that my name in Kannada sounds like tiger (huli). I decided to embrace it because being surrounded by girls whose names’ meaning was “light”, “eyes”, “grace”… made me want to have a name with meaning as well.

I was very touched by their confidence, their talent and desire to share.

Miles just posted about your blog in the SAP community boards. I had no idea you were doing this. The blog is great, thank you! I hope you enjoy your time in India as much as I did.

    Hi Steve,

Thanks! I am enjoying India. It is a great experience personally and professionally. Quite different to my daily job in London.
